Talk openly to your dentist about your fear. Trust me, it is a feeling many patients experience! They will do what they can to calm your nerves and I have never heard of them administering Nitrous to do so. I have heard of them giving you a prescription for low dose anti anxiety medication before your appointment.

Iam a dental assisting student.

Ask for nitrous it will help you calm your nerves, or depending on your age the Dentist could prescribe medication to relax you such as valium or halcion. (you will need a driver to take you) Just ask! They will lead you in the right direction. They would rather you come in and take the meds and be relaxed than for you to cancel or no show!
