Should I get my teeth whitened?!

Question: Should I get my teeth whitened?
Overall I am happy with my teeth, they aren't too bad. But I am a bit concerned about my molar teeth, they are more yellow then the rest? What do I do. Should I not smile in photos?

Everyone can appreciate the beauty of a white smile. However, not that many people like all of the work that it takes to maintain a white smile. The fact is that everything we eat has an effect on the overall color of our teeth. There are a lot of reasons that people have stains and discoloration. Some is caused just by every day wear and tear of life (eating, drinking, and breathing). Other things that can cause teeth discoloration are coffee, tea, smoking, sugary foods and hereditary items. The good news is that there are steps that every person can take to brighten up their smiles. These are a few general teeth whitening suggestions.

First off, don't smoke. Quit if you already do. Nicotine plays an incredibly large role in the discoloration of teeth. Your teeth can quickly tell your secret obsession with cigarettes by their color. There is no treatment that can get rid of this if you are still smoking. Smoking is also bad for your lungs. It is also terrible for your cosmetic health too! There are absolutely no good that can come of smoking. Don't start smoking if you don't already and you want to keep a white smile.

It probable that you have already used one of the OTC products that can be purchased in your nearest drugstore. They are available with either whitening strips, gels or trays. Naturally, these products probably will not work like the ones that are used when you get your teeth professionally whitened. Of course, buying these products is going to be cheaper than making a dentist appointment and you can even use them at your easiest convenience. However, the products that will make your teeth brighter will cost more money than regular OTC oral products. You should also do some research on the different products that are available before you actually buy anything.

Brushing your teeth with teeth whitening toothpaste is one of the simpler ways to get brighter teeth. A lot of dentists do not tell you to use these toothpastes because they can be bad for your tooth enamel. But then again, these toothpastes do more to reduce discoloration than regular kinds of toothpaste. Utilize these kinds of toothpastes if you are upset about your teeth being a different color. As a matter of fact, many toothpastes have at least some type of whitening ingredient that can make your smile brighter. Having stained or discolored teeth is something no one wants. The good news is that there are plenty of things you can do so that your smile is beautiful again. Nobody should be embarrassed to smile openly. This answer has laid out a few suggestions to whiten your teeth that you can implement right away. With a little work you will certainly be able to discover even more ideas you can use to whiten your smile. The good thing is that both staining and discoloration can be fixed. Get yourself ready to proudly display your new, stunning teeth!

I completely understand that having yellow teeth is very embarrassing but some people's teeth are naturally yellow in color. The outer most covering of your teeth is known as enamel which is white in color. But the layer beneath the enamel is known as dentin which is yellow in color. In some cases, the enamel is not perfectly mineralized which makes it translucent. This makes the color of the dentin more visible.

As long as you are maintaining a good oral hygiene it shouldn't be a problem. It's good that you don't drink coffee and alcohol as it can cause teeth discoloration overtime.

Enjoy a good dental health and keep smiling!
