toothache keeping me awake?!

Question: Toothache keeping me awake?
I have had an awful toothache for about a week. I am using orajel and painkillers but it keeps coming back. I can't sleep because when I lay down the pain is excruciating.

My dental insurance wont become effective until the February 1 and I can't afford to see a dentist without. Is there any home remedies I can utilize until then?

Try this acupressure remedy. It works by masking the origins of the pain sensation.

Depending on the side where the bad tooth is i.e. whether it's your left hand side or right hand side, locate the fleshy part of the hand between the thumb and the index finger. Use your other hand's thumb and index finger to make a pinzer and squeeze the fleshy part really hard, until it hurts. The pain from this acupressure point may then 'overwrite' the toothache pain signals to the brain. The pain from the tooth will gradually fade when the pain sensation from the hand is more dominant. I have tried this on myself and many people and it has never failed. It works because the pain in the hand is a lot more bearable than that in the tooth.

Alice, i had to google to get the name in english. but there is an item in asian spices called 'laung'. in english it is called clove. bite three clove pieces between the tooth that aches, and keep ur mouth closed for ten minutes in this position. drop the saliva in the sink. even if you swallow it, it is ok. repeat three times a day. must get better after first use. check the websites in the source below.

get back to me with your feedback, so that i can help others too.

Call your local dental school or free clinic for low cost dental care. You might need to do some work without insurance. In the meantime, rinse with mouthwash and diluted hydrogen peroxide. Ice pack to area, and take aspirin or tylenol.
