Question: How do i stop sucking my thumb?
I have sucked my thumb since birth and I cant stop I have been with my partner for a year and he always moans about it. I suck my thumb while watching TV, sleeping all the time when im at home when im tired, when im feeling insecure I dont know what to do to stop. Iv tried nail polish, tobasco, i even had a brace to try and stop me from sucking my thumb but that didnt work. Iv had train tracks to straighten my teeth but now they have all gone wonky again

Put angostura bitters on it (it's what turns gin pink) people used to do that years ago to stop nail biting.



My best friend at school sucked her thumb, i got only 4 gcse's she went on to be a practitioner of health and is very successfull. She stopped sucking her thumb in her mid 20's but to be honist i didnt notice as she was my close friend and as long as she was happy i had no reason to analyse.

Wrap it in surgical tape.
I used to suck my thumb, a few weeks of that and i haven't since.

Replace it with chewing gum, stop it will ruin your thumb and teeth, think of your health.



get a grip, try taking it out of your mouth and keeping it out, you might also want to try a wee thing called maturing



put Bitter Aloes on it and it will set up a negative Pavlovs response and you'll be suck-free with no time.



stick it up your butt. That might keep you from sucking on it.

That is now a habit, it's hard to resist but you can do resist it if you really want to. It becomes subconscious into yourself(becomes automatic), since you are doing it since you're a kid.

If you can, try to substitute it with candies. But the downside is it would degrade your teeth, specially if you suck it while sleeping.

It's like quitting smoking, hard to do when you are just beginning. Here's what you can try for a week...

Program your mind, be conscious and resist every urge of sucking your thumb.Be attentive and every time the urge trigger, resist it. Do something so you can resist it, like drinking a little water, or eating some kind of chips.

You can even start it in just a day... If you can do it in a day, make it a goal to resist for 2-days and so on. I'm sure you can get rid of it. It's a matter of determination and persistence on resisting it.
