Can you suit dentists for poor dental work?!

Question: Can you suit dentists for poor dental work?
A dentist removed amalgam fillings in my teeth and replaced it with composites. It is now cracked. Can I suit him? Now my tooth has a cavity in the crack.

OPEN A PHONEBOOK THERE'S LOTS OF MALPRACTICE ATTORNEYS, BUT IF YOU'RE A MINOR, UNDER 18, YOU NEED AN ADULT TO SUE IN COURT.

In order to sue you need to proove that the dentist had a duty of care (obvious), neglect had occured, and that harm was suffered as a result. So all this really depends on the information you had before the work done etc, whether the problem is a result of the dentists work, or not. For example, composites tend to be less hardwearing than amalgams so it is not necessarily poor workmanship. Also, decay will not be the fault of the dentist - will be a combo of oral hygeine and diet. If the decay lead to the composite breaking, then that would be down to you, rather than the dentist really.
I would contact the dentist (or another if you prefer) and then look to get the teeth fixed, not get suing. There are cases in which dentists are sued for poor dental work, but from what you've said I would get the facts clear before considering persuing this.

Simply Yes.
Dental negligence can be viewed separately for a number of reasons. Firstly, unlike most medical procedures, it is possible to judge the work objectively. A dentist may simply have done 'a bad job' of removing or filling a tooth, fitting braces etc. It may also be quite obvious if for example the wrong tooth has been removed or cosmetic effects are unsatisfactory. As you also tend to visit the same dentist over a period of time your old records can be very useful.
