what if I refuse to wear rubber bands?!

Question: What if I refuse to wear rubber bands?
I'm 23, I've had braces for almost a year now. I'm supposed to be getting rubber bands sometime soon... I know I wont wear them. They'd be right in the front. awful! And who cares about a bite...no one can see a bite. I just wanted my teeth straight, and they are. Can I refuse elastics? If I tell my orthodontist I don't want/ need my bite fixed, will my braces come off sooner? Will he refuse to treat me further?

well, you can refuse them, but i wouldnt recommend it.. i would just follow the orthodontist's advice; he knows best after all...
i know how hard it is having them at a later age than most... im 17, and i only got my braces put on 4 months ago, so i have at least 8 months left, i think, and most of my friends had them off long ago... but honestly, stick with it... bands, braces; the lot. it will be worth it! and tbh, im probably one of the vainest girls you'll meet; ill admit it.. im ALWAYS worrying about the way i look. i didnt think i would have braces because i thought it would make me absolutely hideous... and tbh, really surprisingly, im not affected by them, or the way they look anymore.... :) it doesnt worry me, which is weird for me :D so im sure they dont make too much difference to how you look either (:
seriouslyy, i would go through with it all, for the full experience and the best possible result. best of luck with it all! :) xo

The process will be much longer. That's what my orthodontist has told me when I got mine. "If you don't wear them properly, or baby them(from the pain), the process will be longer than usual." Elastics aren't that bad, besides the pain from the first three days. Honestly, braces are ugly anyways, so you might as well(in my opinion).

well my friend doesnt use her elastics, shes had braces for 3 years now cos she doesnt wear them:)
