gold chain extraction?! help pleasee!?!

Question: Gold chain extraction?! help pleasee!?
okay so my adult tooth would not come down, so they attached a gold chain on the tooth about october, and i had braces since july, (because they just thought the tooth needed space) but nope its impacted.
so i have been waiting patiently for the tooth to come down, now they say they have to attach a string or something to the chain to tighten it so it brings the tooth down??? what are they talking about and what will they use to pull the chain. is it all done by hand??

Answers:

Hi there I work in an Oral Surgery Clinic and do these procedures around 6 times a week, what you had was called an Expose & Bond. They expose the tooth surface and bond a gold bracket with a small gold linked chain attached to it, the chain is shortened and left hanging by around 3 links through your gum. This is what you should already have . The chain is then attached to the brace wire (arch wire) and the gold chain is gradually tightened month by month and the tooth is supposed to gradually move with a little help down into the space. Technically it is done by your brace and the Orthodontists hand. No yanking of the tooth or anything awful happens, its all done under the safe hands of your Orthodontist.

I am a dental nurse in oral surgery in Scotland

no way! it will be attatched to the brace and it will gently pull it into place, not by hand!
