Pain under my capped tooth. Please help it hurts so much!?!

Question: Pain under my capped tooth. Please help it hurts so much!?
Okay so this isn't the first time this has happened. In the summer I had a gold cap put over my tooth, during september last year i got a really abd infection which caused me a lot of pain and left me with nearly a weeks worth of sleepless nights. Unfortunately the pain has returned along with a small bump of blood on the gum where the tooth sits? This didnt happen the first time. I'm going to see the dentist again on friday but im hoping he'll take my tooth out.

Is it just another infectoin ( I dont see how this ould be possible as I have much better dental hygine since the first time) Or could it be something worse? Can I ask my dentist to remove the tooth as I've had so many problems with it? please help it hurts so much =[

Answers:

sounds like an abscessed tooth to me. basically, yes, it's a tooth infection. the original cap may not have been done so well, or there may have been some other complication that led to this. this has happened to me before, however i did not already have a cap on it, so i'm not sure if this would apply to you. if it does then they should just be able to give you antibiotics, which should help to clear the infection in a couple of days. just call the dentist and tell them its an emergency, and they should be able to get you in in a day or so, and probably write you a prescription for some pain medication as well.
