swelling 3 weeks after wisdom tooth extraction?!

Question: Swelling 3 weeks after wisdom tooth extraction?
I got my wisdom teeth out about three weeks ago, and they were at a weird angle so I guess it was kind of tough for them and it took me a long time to heal. I've been doing pretty good lately, using the syringe every so often to rinse out food. Yesterday I was at my friends house and got food stuck back there so I tried getting it out with my tongue for a while, which I think irritated the gums because the right side of my mouth has been swelling up slightly. I rinsed with salt water which helped a little bit, but it throbs a little bit and I'm not sure what's wrong.
Is it an infection or did I just irritate it? I've been icing or warming my cheek with a hot pad but I'm not sure what to do! Please help.

you need to give the oral surgeon or dentist a call. sounds like it might be infected and you need get it checked out...

I would try a little peroxide on a cotton ball then set in the place where is hurts. Leave on for 3 minutes then rinse thoroughly.Do not swallow until you completely rinse the whole mouth.

I did this when I had a tooth pulled...
