How do I eat with Braces!?!?!?!

Question: How do I eat with Braces!?!?!?
I just got my braces this morning and it is SO hard to eat with them. The pain really stings a lot. I just can't get my jaw to move the right way. Do I eat with my molars? Do I eat normally? Or do I eat with my front teeth? I really hurts no matter how I eat my food, even if it isn't hard food.

Answers:

Sorry - but it will be this bad for about a week, maybe two. But it WILL get better, I promise. And yes. When I ate, I used my molars really. And then, if they hurt when you AREN'T eating, then go to a place like CVS or Fruth or some type for drug store and ask if they have dental wax. I was lucky enough to find flavoured wax. But the regular wax isn't gross or anything. It helps A LOTT. I got my braces off today, and that doesn't hurt either. So just keep your head high.. And eat with your molars. If you want to be super protected about cavities and what-not, use the little brush they gave you to get in between each bracket. If they didn't give you one, got to a supercenter like Walmart and get them. *I stocked up on the there.*
Good luck, and it will get better soon!! :)

3 years of braces.. :P

I actually depends on what you eating with braces I just ate soft foods like mash potatos, soup and stuff but when it came to the hard food it was painfull what help me, ( not a lot of people said that helped them) was that I would press down on my teeth so hard till the pain was so much, then released , to me it help the pain out a lot, but just remember that your teeth will come back to normal after 2-3 days

Don't try to eat very hard foods! It kills! You're going to have to bare with oatmeal or mashed potatoes for a few weeks. Stick to soft and chewy foods. You can TRY to eat with your very back tooth but just warning you, it might hurt. Good luck !

Yes that is how it is going to be for at least a week. Sorry. Eat things that are really soft like mashed potatoes until then.

eat yogurt and mushy stuff so you dont have to chew a lot.
