My dentist burned my skin...? [plz help]?!

Question: My dentist burned my skin...? [plz help]?
So I went to the dentist to have a sealant (idk how to spell that) type of filling thing put in the grooves of my teeth to prevent cavities. I felt something wet next to my mouth while I was getting work done but I thought it was spit/drool. Then that spot started to burn realllyyy badly. My dentist wiped it off and went back to work. After it was done, i felt that spot to get what i thought was drool off but found and swollen & raised skin. My mom asked the assistant about it and she said she saw my dentist wipe something off and thought it was solution from the sealant and that it would burn for a while. That was about 45 minutes ago. The swelling went down a little and now there's a visible burn mark, like it's dark and shiny kind of. Is it bad? Will it leave a mark? And how should I treat it???

Answers:

Ice. You need to put ice on it to take the swelling away. And maybe go to the
store and get some creams for burns. I would NOT put any make up on it for
at least a week, (let it heal first) and keep it clean. Btw, when brushing your
teeth, don't let any tooth paste get on the burn spot, or it will burn even more!

Also, when icing the burn, don't leave it on there for too long or you'll do damage
to the skin. 10 mins top of icing it, and then leave it alone for about 20-30 mins.
Then you can ice it again for another 10 mins, and so on, until you think that
it doesn't need any more ice. Good luck!

Hi,
It sounds like possibly a little of the etchant gel went on you - thats the bit the dentist uses to really clean up the surface, then rinse it off and apply the sealant. It is a kind of acid so will burn the skin a little, however, this should settle quite quickly so I dont think there's much I would advice. I'm afraid it occasionally happens that a little gel drops off, and if it isnt noticed straight away it can burn the skin. If it looks worse at all tomorrow then perhaps go to the doctor, but I would hope it would be improving.

The same thing happened to me! Except it was when I was getting braces and my ortho got it on the inside of my lip... It like swelled up and looked all wrinkly and white lol. It only lasted maybe 3 days to a week. It will go away, trust me :]

It's inside your mouth, I doubt whether it leaves a mark or not will matter.

Ice ice baby ;]
