DAMAGE TO TEETH=NO = NO
DAMAGE ALL ORAL TISSUE, GUMS, ETC.= YES
A TERRIBLE AFTERTASTE FOR TONGUE = YES
SHOULD USE? = NEVER!

This is absolutely harmless because it is the toothbrush bristles that do the actual cleaning and toothpaste just serves as a vehicle to make the mouth feel fresher and more odor free. Many ingredients have been added to toothpaste supposedly to decrease tooth decay and improve gum health, however. Teeth can even be cleaned with nothing at all on the toothbrush because dental plaque can be very easily removed when in its early stage of formation. It will take 24 hours before any plaque left on teeth calcifies to form calculus (aka tartar).

NO it is not safe! Heaven forbid he were to swallow a large amount of that dish soap! It may work for him but dish soap is exactly that--it's for dishes, not teeth. Chances are it is far too abrasive for enamel, and could possibly be hurting his teeth in the long run. Stick to a toothpaste. I love Colgate Total because it has Triclosan, an antibacterial agent (yes, it IS also found in dishsoap) and makes my teeth feel smooth and clean even hours later and after eating. Maybe you should suggest Colgate Total to your dish-soap using friend.

Whatever works for him. As for the lol, I don't see where that fits this situation.
