Answers:

personally I would suck on some sugar free lemon, mint, peppermint or some other INTENSE kind of HARD candy. This way the sugar won't irritate it. the strong flavor will make you salivate er um make your mouth water/moist and because you need to move the candy around a little bit it will exercise your jaw a so you don't keep it perfectly still and then it might get way too tight as it heals. I wouldn't worry about the white. This is probably because the scab can't harden in your mouth because of the constant moisture. Increase your iron intake a little too. Occasionaly gargle with peroxide http://www.ehow.com/how_2086312_safely-g… to keep it from getting infected. Gargle and move it around and through your teeth and gums VERY VERY gently.

As long as you keep the socket packed with gauze you should be ok... When I had all four of my wisdom teeth extracted I kept the gauze in my mouth for a while especially on top of the socket. You should be fine just don't do anything crazy like eat food your not supposed to. Dry socket is the loss of the blood clot in the socket. Once you have lost the clot your bone is exposed to air, food, moisture and other things and it can cause severe pain. You are more susceptible if you are on birth control pills. Only 5% of extractions result in dry socket.
