I think I've had my braces for too long.?!

Question: I think I've had my braces for too long.?
So I've had my braces on for three years now. My teeth weren't bad to begin with and they said is would only two years at the maximum and I follow their instructions to a T.
always wear my rubber bands and never miss an appointment. so what is taking so long!?
Can I ask them to take them off now?
they always say "next month you'll get them off" but they have been saying that for about a year now. they always push it back a month.
I'm so frustrated. what should I do?

My advice is the next appointment you have ask them some questions as to why you still have them on. Sometimes we are hopeful that the teeth will cooperate and do exactly what we them to do, and in the time that we want them to do it in. Unfortunately that is not always the case. Sometimes you have a certain tooth or teeth that is stubborn and just wants to take it's time moving and shifting into the position that we want it to be in. I know that for you it must be really frustrating ,but as I said at your next appointment ask why it is taking so long, your orthodontist will understand that you are frustrated and anxious to get them off, but by asking the question you may get the answer that you are looking for and explanation as to why.

Talk to your orthodontist.
Also have your parent discuss the treatment with him/her.

Sometimes it just takes longer for teeth to move where they need to be. Everyones mouth is different and teeth move at their own rates.
If you want your braces off now, and the orthodontist believes your teeth are not fitting together correctly yet, they will have you sign a release form and you can have your braces off anytime. The thing is though, you have come this far already, you might want to consider just letting them finish your treatment.
You do need to talk to them though. It is your mouth and you should know what the time line is.
By the way, when you have your conference remember to Be tactful and courteous. You catch more flies with sugar than with vinegar.
Good luck!

my sister got hers off after 3 years and her teeth are great. My friend had braces for 5 years and she still has them on, and thats just too long. so I think you should just ask your orthodontist if you're ready get them off if your teeth are already straight. but to keep your teeth straight when you get it off wear a retainer.

for three years! you should take them off you have them for to long but sometime you need it for that long but it might be good if u take them off.

it usually depends how bad your teeth are but you say they werent bad? so why dont you tell your parents to tell them to take it off. Its not like they cant say no, i mean your paying for them right? lol

go to another dentist
