Is it true that brushing your teeth will make them worse?!

Question: Is it true that brushing your teeth will make them worse?
Someone I know believes that brushing your teeth wears away on your enamels thus making them more prone to cavities. The reason I'm asking this stupid sounding question is because this person has perfect teeth and has a history of brushing rarely, never flosses (once brushed 3 times in 7 months), and never had problems. Is he just one lucky person or is there some truth behind his theory?
People that I know with strict oral hygiene habits seem to have all kinds of problems with their teeth. I brush at least twice a day, don't even eat much sweets, but still get cavities.

Another question; Historically, do modern people have much better teeth than they did back when they didn't have dental offices and flouride toothpaste? What did they do to keep their teeth in good shape??

Answers:

Some people have better teeth than others, and that's just genetics. I know some people who have never had cavities, Unfortunately, I'm not one of those people. My grandfather was a dentist and I found out that he had false teeth. My grandmother also has false teeth. If you get a toothbrush with hard bristles, then that will wear your teeth down more. That's why it's good to buy a soft bristled toothbrush. I don't know if they had better teeth back then. They didn't have the x-ray technology we have to really see all the details of possible cavities and cavities that are growing. Someone could have cavities for years and never know and never get them filled.

You will have healthy teeth much longer than the person you mentioned. Such advice is absolute nonsense. Stay with your excellent dental hygene habits.

The answer to your second question (second paragraph) is yes. The answer to your third question is ... they didn't.

You had best go see a physician about your teeth

Talk to your dentist on how to brush correctly. Brushing incorrectly may wear down enamel. I'm not sure why that person has perfect teeth. Is this what the dentist said? Maybe there are problems you are not aware of. As for your teeth, it sounds like me. I brush 2-3 times a day, and I still get cavities. I recently changed my ways and I believe my teeth are much healthier. I ditched all soda and I use ACT mouthwash. It has an anticavity in it, so when you use it, you are more protected against decay. My dentist told me to use it. But like I said in the beginning, talk to your dentist about any concerns you have. They will know much better than almost anyone on these forums.
