Braces...Shooting Pain...Important?!

Question: Braces...Shooting Pain...Important?
Yesterday I had my braces fitted. Last night I woke up with a shooting pain in one of my teeth. It is there when I drink cold drinks or cold air touches my tooth? Why is this? What can I do to stop it? PLease help.

Answers:

After putting up with braces it is common to experience mild-moderate pain during the 1st week. The discomfort is mainly as a result of the braces rubbing over the cheeks and also because of the pressure on the tooth. Once you are adjusted, you will not experience any discomfort later on. However if the pain is not bearable, please contact your dentist immediately.

I would advise you to book an emergency appointment and tell them that you are getting pain.
