if you need to know, im 14, about to be 15, and in 9th grade. i feel like im the only one with not straight teeth. all of my friends have had them and its making me hate my smile. SO i never smile anymore. SO please answer :) oh an could you also tell me what goes on at a consultation???

Answers:

Yes, you need braces because you have a slight over bite. I had the same problem and had braces for 3 years. They are not as big of a hassle as people make them to be. You will definitely enjoy the results. And at consultation they will look at your teeth and make a model of them by having you bite into this pretty cool clay-like mixture, then they will tell you what they think. Nothing painful at all, other than your mouth being a little sore after they are put on

Had braces

I think that if it makes you happy, you should correct your smile. Unless you have an orthodontic NEED for braces, you technically don't absolutely have to have them. Talk to your orthodontist at the consultation. When your there he will just look at your teeth and if you decide you want to continue treatment, he will tell you the treatment options that are right for your mouth. Maybe he offers the Invisalign system which are clear aligners that look like clear retainers. It is a little costly but not much more that braces. Hope I helped because Im also in 9th grade and soon getting braces. It is hard but just think, it will all be worth it in about a year or two!!

fellow-soon to be braceface(:

I wouldn't worry about it. My teeth looked alot like that in the 9th grade too. My back teeth were really late growing in and they didn't come in until I was in the 11th grade. My back teeth, eventually pushed my two front teeth together. My teeth are straight for the most part, but they aren't perfect, and most people's teeth are not either. The way your teeth are naturally help make you an individual. While some people drastically need braces, you could probably go without and look perfetly normal.(Depending on if your back teeth have grown in yet.)

okay if your insurance covers the braces and they say you will only need to wear them a year then get them you won't regret it. But if you have to pay out of your own pocket and they say it will take more than a year for teeth to get straight then i say no.

personal

on the top definitely. maybe on the bottom too.
