Each tooth surface needs a small square shape metal thing called a bracket and this is what the arch wire and bands are attached to, this is what moves each tooth if required. The surface of the tooth is cleaned and dried and then a bonding agent similar to false nail glue is applied to your tooth and the bracket is placed on, it is then set by using an Infrared Light. Each tooth would have a bracket on.

Do you know how when people have braces they have the metal square on their teeth? Well they don't exactly magically stay there. They have to be "bonded," meaning glued to your teeth. After that they place the wire on and for that to stay they put the little bands on the bracket. Also, they put the wire through the holes in the bands on your molars. The bands are metal bands that cover the sides of your molars. That is why you need spacers before you get braces.

When we apply your braces to the front teeth, it called "Bonding brackets".
It means gluing the little braces on your teeth.

Hope this helped!
