Do separators hurt more than braces?!

Question: Do separators hurt more than braces?
I got separators today and they hurt when the lady was putting them in because she flossed them in and I dont floss because I'm only 15, which i think is too young, isn't it? Anyway, they told me it would only feel like food was stuck in between my teeth and it did for a few hours but now its starting to hurt. They told me to take Advil and I did. But it still hurts. I cant even close my mouth all the way. Here is what they look like:

Do braces hurt even more? D:

Answers:

Everyone feels it differently, my seperators only hurt for about a day. After that they were fine. Braces are a little more painful and annoying, mine hurt for about a week or so but the pain was bearable, it just feels like a bit of pressure on your teeth. Make sure that when you get your braces on you ask for wax or buy some ulcer cream, trust me you'll need it. Also dont try and eat anything hard, stick to soft food like ice cream, soup etc. After a few days of pain you feel nothing and it all seems completely normal. Oh and remember its all worth it in the end. Good luck!

Personal experience.

hey :) I feel your pain. I got spacers a few months ago and they hurt like crazy!!! But they only hurt for about a week. Take lots of pain killers, eat cold stuff, gargle warm saltwater...all of those will make the pain go away just a little. Spacers are the worst part of braces. If you can make it thru them, braces are nothing :) Honestly, Braces dont hurt at all :) Good luck!!!

Spacer-surviver, braces-wearer, and currently on my second set of spacers cuz i need an appliance xP they hurt me too! Dont worry it will be over soon!
