Hello,
Braces don't really hurt....your teeth will feel sore for a few days and it will hurt to bite hard foods for a while.
The process of getting them is a bit complicated, They put this primer on your teeth (that tastes pretty bad, keep your tongue in the back of your mouth) then they glue the brackets on. This part doesn't hurt, it could be uncomfortable if you don't like people putting things in your mouth.
Then they put a wire on the brackets, you will feel some pressure. Your teeth will probably be sore, as i said for a while, the brackets can also irritate the inside of your mouth, just put wax on them and it will go away soon.

To get my braces i had to have 4 teeth pulled, they were baby teeth so it wasn't really serious but here's what happened. The dentist put a numbing cream (that didn't taste too lovely) on my gums. then he gave me 2 shots i think. I did feel the shots but if you don't think about it, it just feels like a little poke. He had this little sharp thing and poked in different areas in my mouth and asked if i felt it, once my mouth was numb, he pulled out the teeth. (bring music for this!!!!! it will be a great distraction)

If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me. You'll be fine and just think of how awesome your teeth will look when you're done with this whole ordeal.

1 1/2 years with braces so far... been there, done that.

You have a lot to learn... They glue some glue to your braces, special glue (Try not to taste it, it tastes bitter and sour.) And then glue the braces on, insert the wire, close the doors and some other stuff. (I'm not certain of the whole proccess, or what order it goes in. Getting them on takes about an hour and a half, afterwards it feels a bit numb until the pain begins. It doesn't hurt but yes, it does hurt afterwards for about 2-3 days... Afterwards it you get used to them and forget you have them. Brushing is a little but more difficult but you'll get the hang of it, you can't eat toffee and food too hard that'll rip your braces off. Ocasionally you'll have to get them tightened (getting a new wire) Every 2 months i think, it hurts a little bit but not nearly as much as when you get them (My mouth only felt numb and uncomfortable, and it only lasted a day) but it's different for all people with braces. As for getting bands....hm... i think you get bands like... 8 months after you get your braces on, i'm not entirely sure. I've never had them but i imagine they'd be uncomfortable, and you have to replace them a lot.

Good luck, and NO they DON'T drill holes in your teeth.

First of all getting braces does not hurt. you will feel some discomfort for about 2 - 4 days because it starts moving after they are added so your mouth has to get used to them and also there will be some sore spots were your brace or wire is at but it will subside if not apply dental wax. Second they do not drill in your teeth the you a type of glue.(DO NOT taste the glue because it tastes horrible!!!!!!!!!) and you have what they call an overbite after maybe a month or so they will give you bands to put on your braces to help fix that. and they only remove teeth if you have overcrowding which means you have to many teeth.

I got my braces a few weeks ago

depending on what your mouth is like they might have to pull a few teeth and that hurts a bit. Getting them put on is slightly uncomfortable and you might have some rubbing between the gums and braces that is easy to deal with with wax that they give you. They only hard part is finding what you can and can't eat. Moon pies are out and if you want cheese puffs I would crush them with your fingers and place them in you mouth without chewing them. And you need to brush your teeth VERY WELL or you can get staining on them when they come off. In the long run you will be glad you had it done trust me.

it depends. I had a lot of work done on my mouth before braces so i was used to it but when they first put everything on and after each tightening they hurt a little. So rinse with warm salt water. It only hurts for a little while usually the day you get them on or tightened but the pain will fade. No they don't punch a hole in your teeth. you might have an overbite and they can fix that. I have like the same problem. i still have my braces on so as far as i know you get your separators, then you go back for a different appt for your top then a different appt for your bottom. they use this glue to keep the brackets on. the sand they use to clean your teeth is kinda gross but my orthodontist let me rinse my mouth. they use the sand before they put the braces on. you won't get your rubberbands for an overbite until later. Then you pretty much go for regular appts to get them tightened and checked
