My tooth still hurts when sugar touches it. I've already had a root canal t!

Question: My tooth still hurts when sugar touches it. I've already had a root canal though?
About three months ago I got a root canal on my top left molar. The cavity was down to the roots and the tooth was already dead when the dentist got to it. I've noticed that if I eat on it, if the thing is hot/cold or if it has sugar in it, it begins to hurt and continues to hurt until I rinse it out. Any tips on why my top left molar hurts like hell whenever anything touches it?

There are two possibilities in your case,
1) the tooth adjacent to the one your got root canal, might be involved
2) You are havind gum disease, where in the food gets stuck and you feel the similar symptoms, once the food is out, the pain is relieved.

See your dentist for a proper diagnosis..

Then you wouldn't have needed a root canal. The root canal removes the "root" or nerve; if it's "dead" it doesn't hurt.

Your tooth immediately next to that one might also be the culprit. I thought I had a problem with one tooth and it turned out to be the one next to it' after I'd already gotten the wrong tooth drilled out. The dentist can use a technique of applying a swab soaked in a really cold liquid (liquid nitrogen?) and that will most likely identify the right tooth.

If you have had a root canal done and are still experiencing pain in the tooth then the dentist did not kill all of the nerves in the tooth. It does happen. More likely is that the tooth next to it is flaring up. Good luck.
