Tooth extraction (people who have experienced it please)?!

Question: Tooth extraction (people who have experienced it please)?
I'm having two teeth taken out soon and im so scared!

How bad is the pain out of 10?
Can they knock me out?

I'm so freaked out about the fact that a bone is going to be ripped from my gums.

What happens to the space left?

Don't stress about it... I'd say 0 on the pain scale... maybe 1 if u don't have enough Novocaine (it's this stuff that numbs your gums). And if it does hurt just ask them for more Novocaine. Basically, They inject the Novocaine into your gums (which only feels like a slight pinch), they wait a minute for your mouth to go numb, and then they just pull the tooth out with a weird tool that sorta looks like really thin pliers, and then they just give you the gauze to soak up blood.

You're not gonna get knocked out... though you might get sort of dizzy from the bright lights... but you can close your eyes if you really don't want to watch.

You WILL NOT have ANY bones taken out of your gums aside from the two teeth!

Then, afterwards, you'll just have to change the gauze every 15-30 min or so(they'll give you a few), and then you'll have a red mark on your gums form where your teeth were pulled. If they were baby teeth, then your adult teeth will eventually grow in... and if they were adult teeth, then you're teeth will just move around unless you get a spacer or something.

Anyways, it's pretty painless, just sort of uncomfortable. You're gums and cheek might swell but will go down within a couple hours.

To describe what it feels like... well it sort of feels like that feeling when you floss a shred of meat out from between your teeth, like its a lot more loose with less pressure.

Don't worry it only take 5 min and then you'll be free. Although I'd recommend getting something to eat and drink before hand because you can't for like an hour after the tooth is pulled, and then i'd just eat soft foods like bread, pudding, and mashed potatoes and if you have to chew something, it should be on the opposite side... unless u got one tooth from both sides.

Anyways, don't stress about it... the next day you'll just live your normal life the same way you did the day before :)

5 teeth pulled

I had a tooth pulled out (well, half a tooth, it broke, half came out, half got stuck and had to be pulled out). When I had it done, they used a local anesthetic in my mouth which consisted of 2 injections, one in my gum and one in the roof of my mouth.
The one in my gum was okay, the one in the roof of my mouth hurt a bit, but it was bearable, it's anesthetic, the pain wore off almost instantly anyway. Then when they pulled/drilled/chiseled the half tooth out I couldn't feel a thing. They then got me to bite down on some fluffy thing to stop the bleeding and everything was fine.
But I warn you, I was experimenting with the whole "no pain" thing, and bit my lip as hard as I could. I didn't feel it at the time, but when tha anesthetic wore off, my lip hurt so much XD

Out of 10:
Gum needle:- 3
roof of mouth needle:- 6
Tooth:- 0

As to the space left, I already had a tooth growing underneath so there was no space, but I'm sure you could get braces or something to close the gap slightly, or get a fake tooth.

Okay Firstly Do not be scared modern medicine has evolved a lot in the last few years to do with pain prevention.....

i had a tooth out 2 years ago ... a perfectly good tooth but to get my bite lining up right with braces it had to go.....

the Pain was 0... i never felt a thing... just a weird sensation when the tooth breaks from the jaw bone.....

some dentists do practice dentistry while patients are knocked out but this can be very expensive....
the space will cover over with your gum... it will feel weird for a day or two but that is it...

for me the tooth space was covered by my other teeth, done with braces....

just don't worry you will be grand

personal experience

Relax! it's totally fine! I got a tooth removed when i was only 11 or 12 or something. The worst thing about it is they give you an injection that makes your mouth numb and that doesn't even hurt much. After that it just feels like someone is moving your tooth not ripping it out admittedly i did get freaked out by some noises i heard but the feeling after you get it removed is funny because you talk in a funny way. :D It will be fine!

I had cracked my tooth when I was younger and I needed it pulled. My dentist just rubbed some pink numbing gel on my gums. I got some on my lip by accident and before I knew what he was doing, it was out. I didnt feel or hear a thing like these people. It ached a little after, but I took some ibuprofen to help the pain. On a scale, Id give it a 1-2.

dont worry about... i will explain what happened when i got my tooth pulled

you go in and the doctor puts a numbing gel thing on your teeth and gums. you get 2 shots one of the front part of the gums and one on the back. he waits to let the numbing take effect. then he takes something like a wrench and pulls out your tooth. you hear a crackling sound..its kinda weird but u feel no pain. they put cotton balls to stop the bleeeding. when u go home you replace the cotton for about another hour. it does hurt at all its just kinda nerve wracking with the thought of having it pulled out. you'll be fine. the shots only feel like a small pinch. its not bad. :D
good luck!

Get the vicodin prescription after and you wob't ache. Dentists numbed me well and I didn't feel the extraction but the sound was horrible!!! I didn't take my vicodin at first and the ache was bad. After taking the medicine I felt nothing

Had one removed

it's painless. after, you may be uncomfortable for a few hours. the dentist may have you take antibiotic meds or tylenol for any discomfort and to prevent infection
