I think I have gingivitis?!

Question: I think I have gingivitis?
Now firstly...i know i need to go to an oral hygienist but im a student living off nothing and cant afford it without saving for a while!

I have the symptoms of this and I was wondering....if i just brush my teeth better and use mouthwash and get some tooth floss and maybe take vit. C tablets...should the problem go away?

You are entitled to help with NHS fees if you are a student. You will need to pop into your dentists surgery and ask for a HD2 form which helps with fees based on income.

It needs to be looked at anyway by a dentist to see if you need a hygienist or a dentist can do it them selves.

(As a student if you were with the same dentist on the NHS for many years as a child and teenager they can be sympathetic and help you on the NHS whilst you are studying, ask nicely and plead poverty)

Gingivitis is caused from tartar building up underneath your gum line. Tartar is plaque that has been undistrubed for 24 hours. It is the hard substance that dentist and hygientists scrape off. It will eventually cause your teeth to loosen and cause pain. However this takes years to occur.

If you floss really well after every meal and brush your gums when brushing your teeth you can probably delay going to the dentist right away. However you should take your time when brushing your teeth. It is a good idea to brush between 3-5 minutes and them floss. At first your gums will bleed becuse they are not used to being brushed, but they will toughen up. Be sure to go for a cleaning as soon as you can manage it. That is the only real way to remove the tartar. I hope this helps.

I had it too. I found that after I started consuming lime juice, by way of margaritas, daily, that I didn't have a problem anymore. Go buy either lemon or lime juice and take big swigs 2 or 3 times a day, you don't need the tequila, for it to get better.

i have had it u shuld def go to the dentists as they will clean u teeth nd prescribe u tablets for it
