How can I remove my permanent retainer?!

Question: How can I remove my permanent retainer?
I have had my permanent retainer in for about 10 years. over time it has become warped and it is very hard to keep my teeth clean and flossed.

Is there any solution or chemical that can disolve the dental anheisive that is used to bond the metal bars to my canine teeth? or some other way to remove the retainer?

Hire a rogue dentist to take it off for you. That, or you're gonna have to invest in a tiny "mouth-jackhammer" to clear the resin for you

Go to your old Orthodontist, a new Orthodontist or any Dentist to have it removed. If you don't go see your old Orthodontist anyway, it won't be a problem of ethics.

They actually use dental composite to bond the metal to your teeth. No, there is no way for you to remove it yourself. You could damage your teeth. When you have this permanent retainer removed, you might need another removable retainer. Observe if your teeth are starting to shift out of alignment. If they do, then you need a removable retainer made.

I had one of those too- in fact, I had mine for 10 years and had the same issues. I asked my dentist about it and he was able to remove it. I would ask your dentist. I will warn you though, your teeth might shift a little bit after it is removed- mind did. Not real bad, but enough to where I can notice it. I thought it was worth it though because I hated getting food stuck in it all the time. It's a totally painless procedure- it came off in about 2 minutes. Mostly it took awhile to have the old cement stuff cleaned/scraped off. I think my appointment was like 20 minutes and that was it. :)

Personal experience.

well you shouldn't try to remove it because you might damage your teeth by trying to remove it.

does perminant mean anything to you?
