Cavity on a Wisdom Tooth OH NO?!
Question: Cavity on a Wisdom Tooth OH NO?
At my cleaning today, the hygienist commented that my wisdom teeth looked fine and had plenty of room, and would not recommend them to be removed unless I can't keep them clean.
Then the doctor came in for the exam and noticed a couple cavities, one of them between my teeth on my wisdom tooth. Shockingly, he then advised that I should get all four of them removed, only moments after being told the opposite by the hygienist. I could not believe I got such conflicting opinions from two people within minutes, all because of a tiny cavity.
All my life (I am 25) all my dentists have never even mentioned the removal of my wisdom teeth because they had plenty of room to come in. This dentist said it was a good preventative measure if I ever had cavities in hard to reach spaces, and also said that "you don't need those teeth". He also hinted that it was hard for them to do fillings on the back teeth.... so instead of making their job a little harder, oh I should just get them removed??!!?
Not a very objective dentist. Should I ever trust this dentist again? Sounds to me like he just wants to make some extra cash after referring me to one of his buddy oral surgeons.

I would get a second opinion. Many people keep their wisdom teeth, including me, with no problems.
