Dental question: Do I bring my son into the dentist?!
Question: Dental question: Do I bring my son into the dentist?
Answers:
What you have read is one of those things that sound better on paper than in real life. The youngest patient I have ever been able to actually do any dental work on was 3 years old. I also feel it is a waste of time to bring in anyone less than 3 years old just to "get acquainted" with a dentist but that's my humble opinion. Even some dental journals recommend what you have read but personally I have found that not to be very practical.

My dentist advised my friend Tara when she went to the dentist (while pregnant) to start bringing baby to the dentist when baby starts teething.
If you are in the UK children's dental is free so you got nothing to loose.
if you have to pay for children's dental then weigh up weather you think it's worth it.
dentists look for many things - disease etc
but children very rarely have anything wrong.
on the upside if dental visits are a regular thing your child is much less likely to develop a phobia or distrust medical pprofessionalslater,
i think this one's a case of personal preference, if there was anything wrong you would know.
Personal experience,
Yes you should take him in even if he only has one tooth. They can examine gums to see if his teeth will grow in right or if his 1 tooth is already grown correctly. If theres a problem it is a good idea to nip it in the bud
I never took my son to the dentist until he was 3. I think you are wasting your time and money taking him with 1 tooth. Why does your book say 1? I would think a 1 year old is too young to let a stranger look in his mouth.
