Are there dangers for chewing gum?!

Question: Are there dangers for chewing gum?
I was just wondering if there are any REAL dangers in the long term. I've been chewing sugar-free Stride gum which helps me get rid of eating a lot of snack foods, but there are rumors going around about chewing gum in the long term. I've researched the ingredients but I'm still not sure.

I dnt kno if the gum is dangerous, but I have heard that you can get arthuritis is the jaw if you chew excessively over a long period of time

Ingredients wise, gum is horrible. The gums that say "sugar-free" are full of aspartame, a nasty artificial flavour. Some say aspartame free now as well but if there are any artificial sweeteners in the gum, it's a surefire sign of bad chemicals.

The long term effects of these chemicals are not good to your body and can have adverse effects but there's another thing you mentioned.

You said chewing gum helps you get rid of eating a lot of snacks. When you chew gum your mouth begins to secrete saliva and your body preps your stomach for digestion. This leads to acids producing for the food you're "supposedly eating" to be digested. This is not a good thing...your body produces excessive acids and when you're starving yourself for a long time, it leads to a greater chance of ulcers being formed on the lining of your stomach letalone your entire GI tract.

Best thing to do is lay off the gum, don't chew excessively. There are many foods you can ACTUALLY be eating and will tastegood and fill you up without the nasty effects of gum.

Gum free for 5 years now...lolll

teeth loosening up... teeth being pulled out, fillings being pulled out... umm. cavities..... there's lots, my mom use to be a heavy gum chewer and she told me about it... even sugar free can be bad for you because sometimes they put aspartame in it witch can rot your teeth,,
