Wisdom teeth removal..?!

Question: Wisdom teeth removal..?
I'm going to get my wisdom teeth removed, one day before school starts.
I am getting all 4 removed, with general anaesthetic.

I just wanted to know, how badly does it hurt the day after the operation?
Will I be able to go to school?
How badly will my face be swollen?

Thanks! :)

Answers:

After the operation you will be in pain as its not a matter of IF but WHEN, you must stock up on pain relief such as Paracetamol for pain and Ibuprofen for swelling, both work best together every 4 hours. You will need to take these without fail for a few days at least.
You will NOT be able to go to school the next day as you are getting a GA and there is a recovery period for this, however check with the anesthetist, but as far as I am aware your judgment may be impaired for 24 hours after so you might be a bit forgetful and unsteady.
Your face will be swollen as you are having all 4 out, you may look like a chipmunk cheek. placing a bag of frozen peas or ice on the area will help with the swelling and the Ibuprofen will ease this.

I'm 16 and I got mine removed last summer. The pain varies for different people. Personally, mine hurt pretty bad for about 3 days after, BUT that was only when I was off the medication. The medication....... it's awesome. That's the stuff people get addicted too, lol.

As for school, once again, it depends on the person, but I would think you would be out for a day or two. Maybe three.

Good luck!

Oh by the way, the operation is awesome! Getting knocked out is actually a pretty nice experiance.

I had my wisdom teeth taken out but didn't have general anaesthetic, they just numbed my mouth up. It didn't hurt too much the next day but I would say you probably should have at least 1-3 days off. Different people feel different things though, so you may need more/less time. My face didn't swell too bad but it was swollen for a few hours after the removal :)

I've heard it differs from person to person, just take the day off! Ham it up a little bit!
