i have had about 8 taken out. it is more fear then anything else.
they will 1. put anesthesia in your mouth. probably a shot. once they used a little cream which numbed me but i think it was because the tooth was already very loose.
afterwards, they will take the tooth out a lot faster then you think. the pain lasts for 10 seconds, and as they inject in your mouth, but it goes away.
your mouth will feel weird and the area may bleed, but follow the dentist's instructions and it will be fine. It is good to have ice cream or something else cold afterwards!
-good luck!, im getting braces soon as well.

I agree with the other answers. My dentist always uses numbing (cream and then shots) before she does anything. Just make sure you feel the numbness and let the dentist know if you are not numb before they start (my mom's old dentist would not wait until the numbing shot set in and it would hurt really bad). The shot does not hurt either it is more like a tiny pinch.

It used to...... like 100 years ago, but modern dentistry doesn't hurt.

Disregard the scary tales u've heard. The most important part is how you follow instructions and take care of your mouth after the extraction has been done--that is when pain could come up if you have a dry socket or an infection.

So, relax....... it's not as you think.......

Cheers!!

They will gas you, But when you wake up you will be a retard, Then you will feel the pain when the gas poofs.

They are probably going to numb your mouth so it will be fine.

Ok so like you I had 4 of my teeth pulled so I could get braces.. And then like 3 weeks ago I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out.. what they will do is inject you with novacaine (sorry I don't know how to spell that) and you'll just feel little pokes and thats it.. Now I don't know if they'll give you nitrous oxide or also known as laughing gas but I think it helps me.. it kinda takes my mind off of everything.. but once they have given the novacaine enough time to numb everything they will start.. Now when they start your going to feel alot of pressure and that's normal.. Don't freak out! They will take your tooth and wiggle it until it comes out (or atleast that's what they done to all of mine) once there done with all of them and you go home you are going to be numb still so be careful you might drool alittle and not know it! Trust me it sucks! Just get lots of rest and they might prescribe you pills one bottle of pills for the pain, and one bottle that are your antibiotics so you don't get infections! The first one to two days won't be the greatest, but after your second day you should start to feel better! Just gargle with salt water and maybe take some ibuprofen all should go well! And as for being nervous or scared.. When there done you won't even know it! It's quick and painless!! Just be sure to tell them if you can feel what there doing!
Or if it hurts and they'll give you more numbing stuff! I hope this helps! Sorry If it doesn't! :)
