The original poster had a "few cigarettes" in her lifetime. If she smokes the same day that she goes to the dentist, or if she smokes for many years, then the dentist will undoubtedly notice.

But he's certainly not going to notice that she had a "few cigarettes" at some point in the past.

People ought to read the question before they try to make her paranoid.

She can enjoy a cigarette or two if she wants. As long as she waits a few days before she goes to the dentist, there is zero chance that he's going to notice.

The dentist can hardly fail to smell the cigarettes. Typically non smoking doctors and dentists pick up on the aroma as the patient enters the room from their body and clothes. In addition smoking produces a very typical dental plaque and often there is a smoking related fungus coating the tongue. In chronic users there is also often signs of leukoplakia on the gums or cheeks.

Hi ,

Good question and I have had something similar happen to me. I am not the best dental patient and I used to lose sleep the night before as I was so scared and petrified due to an extremely horrendous experience when I was younger.

But no more as I have a very sympathetic dentist who explains everything to me so that i know what is going on and he uses the least invasive procedure as a matter of course.

You need to overcome your fear from past experience to get the treatment you need as pain, worry and loss of sleep must be overcome.

Get the Free Fear report as that helped me and my friends .

All the best, Keep smiling.

Yellow teeth and bad breath. Would possibly also notice yellow fingers.
And actually, smoking makes you more stressed. It pushes up your blood pressure. Stop now before it becomes a habit. Otherwise the cost of it really will make you stressed.

GUMS, smokers gums are in poorer condition than a non smoker, also colour of teeth and staining around the gum margin. Sometimes breath gives it away or odour from you in general. You are an adult at 21, be a grown up and own up.

if you've had a cigarette within a few hours of the appointment he will know, the same way as everyone else within sniffing distance of you knows.

pooh. :-)

you breath and close will smelly, and you will have yellow teeth
