how bad do braces hurt when their being put on?!

they dont really hurt that bad.. maybe two days later it will. might wanna eat something soft for awhile. during the process of getting braces on, they stretch your mouth with this thing, hurts like hell, so i'd suggest puttin some chapstick on. lmao.

they tighten once a month.

When the brackets are being put on, it shouldn't hurt at all... Just keep your tongue towards the back of your mouth, the primer tastes bad!! (sadly, i know this from experience.
They don't actually tighten them...the way mine work is there is a wire that connects the brackets and you move up to thicker wires. The amount of time between wire changes varies, it's usually between 3 and 7 weeks.

When I got my braces on they didn't really hurt! Looking at all the tools that your orthodontist will use might scare you a little bit though! The tools that he/she will use look like shots but they are really just hooks to put the wire on and a thing used to put glue on your teeth so that the actual square thing will stay on. Your teeth will start hurting only a day or two after you have got your braces on.

You should most likely be tightening your braces every three to six weeks. When you have just tightened them..Its a really good idea to get some ice-cream after! I do it all the time...Freezing temperatures or Boiling temperatures! it makes your teeth hurt wayyy less!

Braces when they get put on are painless.
except for just a little pressure when they place your brackets on.
But just incase (because orthodontist can be different than others) take motrin/tylenol before your bonding.

hm.... for me it's 3 weeks, because i have this weird thing with my canines not coming down so they have a chain that pulls them. But it can vary on how much you need treatment.
I'd say 3-6 weeks possibly, just ask your orthodontist when you have to return.
