I'm a dentist, so allow me to calm your nerves. After braces are removed, the white stuff you are mentioning can either be 3 things or a mixture of all of the above: a stain caused by the cement that is used to hold your brackets into place and/or hypocalcified enamel or white spots that normally resulted from poor hygiene because of the difficulty of the patient to totally clean their teeth during orthodontic treatment and/or a result from this etch that dentists normally use while they attach the brackets or genetics.

For the first cause, like everyone said here, your orthodontist can remove the stain. Proper cleaning can do it. While if it is in your genes that your enamel is not that strong, then, all a dentist can do about it is to address your chief complaint and provide the proper treatment for it. These white spots can also be removed through tooth whitening. You can either have it done professionally through microabrasion technique with take home whitening products provided for you by your dentist. Or, you can do it the way one of my patient did. Although, I would have preferred that she had it done by me, the result I saw in her (if she really did it through the instruction of this site and not by another dentist, lol) is quite good. You can check it out and if you did try it and found out that it really work, and then, I hope you'll let me know. She said it is cheaper than me, lol. Well, I hope I was able to help you in a small way.

it's most likely that concretish paste that put on your teeth to make the braces stick to.. they left some on mine and I couldn't get it off, so I went back to them and they scraped it off..

It's a form of glue from the braces...it will come off over time or you can ask the orthodontist to remove it and they will.
