Chewing gum with braces is ok!?! Right?!?!

Question: Chewing gum with braces is ok!?! Right?!?
So I only have braces on top and they don't even go all the way back. I have been chewing gum but everyone is like OMG WHAT YOUR DOING IS BAD!!? geesh... Is it that bad?

Answers:

Just don't get the gum stuck in your braces

Make sure it's sugar-free gum so you don't have cavities developing under your brackets. The dental assistant at my dentist's office (who had also had braces) actually *recommended* for me and my brother to chew gum to take out the soreness, especially after an adjustment. So, no, it isn't bad at all.

Braces for 2 1/2 years (and chewed gum quite frequently).

u should avoid it strcikly, else no use of braces, chewing gum may distort ur teeth and may shatter the purpose of braces.

Avoid it till u have braces, u can eat french fries rather to satisfy ur urge of chewing

No, it's not bad, it's perfectly fine. Actually it helps relieve pain.

as long as it's the none stick kind like Freedent.

it's fine but it's annoying when it gets stuck =].

It's fine. As long as its sugar free, like Trident. No gumballs.
