Is it really necessary? Question about baby teeth?!

Question: Is it really necessary? Question about baby teeth?
My husband took his son to the dentist (he's only 8) and they told him 5 of his filing are leaking and they need to be replaced. They did 2 last night and he's scheduled for the other 3 for next month. My question is is this work really necessary since they are his baby teeth? Also this seems a bit unusual that 5 filings would be leaking is this a common thing? I have a bad feeling this dentist office may be trying to take advantage but not sure since I'm not a dentist.

1) if his 6th teeth(the most posterior teeth) have problem then it is absolutely necessary to be taken care of ; since they are permanent!

2)about his 5th & 4th teeth if absence of them interfere with mastication then it is better to refill them cause it will takes about 3 years to be replaced if not then you can extract them.

3)save canine cause they support jaws.

its very necessary especially if your sons baby teeth are going to be functioning for at least a year. the leakage that is going on can cause decay and can spread to the underlying adult tooth and that is when things are not good. that is a lot of cavities for an 8 year old so i suggest you monitor his oral hygiene skills as home. make sure he is brushing twice daily and flossing daily at least once. you can buy him a kids fluoride mouthwash that help prevent cavities. what his diet too, too much soda and candy are not good. even when he gets these fillings replaced, he can still cause cavities to those new fillings if his hygiene is poor.
