I have a severe teeth gap on my lower jaw. What shall I do?!

Question: I have a severe teeth gap on my lower jaw. What shall I do?
This teeth gap on my lower jaw has been the scourge of my life ever since it came. It was not so visible when I was in grade school. As time went by, the gap became wider. I am 18 and i tried to measure the teeth gap. Believe it or not, it is 6mm wide, nearly a centimeter! I know this case is very rare because most gaps happen on the incisors of the upper jaw. Mine is very embarrassing. I have observed that my teeth gap becomes wider. Some of my teeth on my lower jaw (those in front) are also showing signs of teeth gap. I also have a gap on my upper jaw, beside the incisor. This is so embarrassing. I visited a dentist two years ago for a dental check up but he did not say anything about my condition. I am in college and I have less friends, especially girls. This problem is making me less confident. I try to avoid to talk to other people because my teeth gap can be clearly seen. There was a time when a friend of mine asked me if I lost a tooth. That's how worse my gap is, as if a tooth is missing on my lower jaw. I really need a solution for this problem. What is the possible treatment for this and how much would it cost?

First of all, you need to stop being embarrassed about it, and come over it. Think positively, take it that the problem would be rectified within a year if you give that time to the dentist.
There are quite few different ways, check here - http://worldental.org/teeth/closing-teet…
I would suggest you to have the braces treatment done, which takes time but is still one of the best. You just need to visit an orthodontist in your area.

Btw, if you want more options than braces - Porcelain veneer is one of the options, and other is the conventional crowns and bridges.
Still, braces are the best. And as I said, get your confidence high.

I'm a dentist.

You need braces!!!!

Go and see an orthodontist. Cost of treatment is about $2000 to $4000 depending on your area and what is being done. You can probably arrange to make payments. Don't put this off.
By the way, have your wisdom teeth come in yet? This may either help to close the gap or it may make things worse, so go and see someone now.

Also, dental check ups every two years is not enough. You should have your teeth cleaned every six months and at that time they will also address any problems/ issues.

Good luck. Go and do this, it really will be worth it, even if you think that is a lot of money.
