Swollen and very sore to touch, neck and face after wisdom tooth extraction?!


Question: Swollen and very sore to touch, neck and face after wisdom tooth extraction?
I got my left lower wisdom tooth extracted yesterday, my face started swelling and became painful as soon as i left th surgery. Its swollen that much i look deformed and and my neck and face r extremely sore to touch. Its also painful swallowing liquids r trying 2 open my mouth. Ive got antibiotics from the dentist but they dont seem 2 b helpin yet. Is this normal?

It must be normal. You are with dentist and taking antibiotic, so don't worry.If swelling is not there I will be surprised.



Yes, it's normal for swelling and pain to occur. When I got my wisdom teeth out, they gave me pain medication (codeine) which helped a lot. Take some advil or something, since you apparently weren't prescribed any pain medication. The antibiotics are just to prevent infection, they don't reduce swelling or pain. If the swelling lasts for more than five days, go to your dentist.

I got four wisdom teeth out...
