Is getting braces gunna really hurt?!

Question: Is getting braces gunna really hurt?
Im getting them next week and im really nervous!! Can you tell me if its super painful?

Answers:

I had braces as an adult...18 months. Getting them attached was a little uncomfortable but not painful. I went in every 3 to 4 weeks to have them adjusted, and for a couple days after it could be extremely painful, especially eating. Biting white bread in two could hurt! I ate a lot of ice cream and jello on those days. Other than that, it was mostly a nuisance...flossing especially, but no matter how much a nuisance, floss anyway!

Ah, and such liberation the day I got them removed! My teeth did look much better, and I faithfully wear my retainer. Braces cost a lot of money and you don't want to see it go to waste by being lazy about wearing your retainer.

Anyway...Cowgirl up and endeavor to persevere...you'll get through this and the results will be worthwhile!

Good question:) Getting the actual braces on, like with the special glue and everything does not hurt AT ALL, you don't get a shot or anything because it doesn't hurt. Now having the braces on is a different story. For the first couple of days it's going to be extremely uncomfortable and really tight and it will sometimes hurt to eat. But after a couple of days you won't be feeling anything. But every time you get your wires replaced and tightened it's going to be hurting all over again for a few days. But believe me, it's really not that bad. Don't be nervous:P

Got braces now, and getting them off in 2 months

It doesn't hurt to get them on, they just glue the little brackets on and put in the wires, but it hurts a bit after for a week or so, just take pain medicine and don't eat things like sandwiches or really chewy things. Getting them tightened hurts a bit the first few times, too. I've had mine on for almost two years and I'm getting them off in four weeks. After a while, you'll forget you even have them! I mean, it takes about a month or two to get used to the feeling of the metal and stuff on your teeth. Also, use wax if the brackets rub against your gums and stuff, getting sore are the worst part. But, good luck with them! :)

Yes. First, your dentist will use a chisel to create a large cavity in your teeth so that they can insert the glue with which they will attach the braces. The braces themselves have large spikes protruding from odd angles which may cut through your mouth. They are then welded into your mouth using a sledgehammer. Also, most modern braces have a high voltage charge running throughout which will activate if any attempt is made to remove them.

Ignore these answers, nothing you have done will hurt, but after they get ajusted you wont be able tobite for a couple of hours, but the ortadontist doesent hurt you, and a little soreness in any case is worth it for a good smile.

Dont worry

When i had mine fitted it was a bit painful for a while as they were set tight but i soon got used to them. The pain was not too bad in fact i would describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. Either way the end result is worth it.
