Can the orthodontist have done too much IPR?!

Question: Can the orthodontist have done too much IPR?
I have Invisalign, and today the orthodontist shaved down quite a bit off the edges of one tooth that hasn't moved as much as predicted. Now I have visible gaps on either side of the tooth. I hope the tooth will rotate enough to fill those gaps, but if I'm left with gaps, what happens then? How is something like that fixed?

Answers:

It's possible - but very unlikely. The amount of IPR is pre-planned.
The gaps will close over the next few aligners. If there are still gaps at the end, more aligners (called refinement aligners) will be ordered to close them.
So, you can relax!
Cheers

I'm an orthodontist.
