3 questions about braces? I get them in 2 weeks!!?!

Question: 3 questions about braces? I get them in 2 weeks!!?
1.) Should I take Tylenol/Advil/IBUProfen before or after I get my braces?

2.) Does the orthadontist give you any special toothbrush or anything after you get your braces on?

3.) Is it true that it will hurt like hell the next day?

Thanks (:

Answers:

1) I fount Ibuprofen (Advil is a brand of that) worked much better than Acetaminophen (Tylenol) with braces pain. I would take it when you get home from getting them put on (taking it before, it might wear off by the time your teeth start hurting).

2) I used my regular toothbrush, but in addition to that, I got a kit with a tiny brush to use in addition to my regular brush for cleaning between the wire and the teeth.

3) Sadly, yes. You actually will feel no pain getting them on. It is usually about 6-12 hours later that the pain starts. Same thing with tightening. You will get used to it.

1. Take them right before you go, and then the hours following up that you are allowed to. So if you got them at at like 12, take something at 11:30 and then take something again in the next 4-6 hours.

2. Not here, we don't. You can brush your teeth just fine with braces. We give out a toothbrush anyway that we brush your teeth with before we put them on, a plastic circle to chew on to lessen the pain, floss, and directions on what you can eat and not eat, and a brushing schedule.

3. Everyone's pain tolerance is different. Some will be in a lot of pain, others find it manageable, just be sure to eat lots of soft food and take medicine.

Good luck!

I took tylenol after I got mine a few years ago. No, you can use any toothbrush you wish. And yes, in most cases they hurt like hell the day after you get them and after they get adjusted but they don't hurt after a few days. I would suggest to go and get ambesol, the gum numbing stuff, because to me that helps better than ibuprofen and advil and tylenol.

Braces for 3 years

1] if you want, you can take some. but i take them after i got my braces. :D

2]my ortho never give me any toothbrush but he do advice me what toothbrush and toothpaste to use. use toothpaste with fluoride. he also will give some list on what you should and shouldnt eat.

3] for me it didnt hurt much. i just feel some pressure especially my front teeth except my molar. not hurt like hell because i still can manage to eat. it depends on individual. everyone got difference pain tolerance. some cant feel the pain and some do hurt like hell. so it depends. as for me, not like hell. it still bearable and i still can eat :) but my front teeth hurt like hell if they hit my bottom front teeth. it just scary. lol

Deffinitely take tylenol before getting your braces because they do hurt.
They tell you to get these little toothpick things that have that little tree at the end to get between the braces.
Yes they will hurt the next day and when you have to get them tighten
Also make sure you eat before your visit cause it will hurt to eat afterwards.

I had braces for 5 years

1) I took motrin and it worked like heavan! and whenever It hurt I just put some oral gel on my gums and it allowed me to semi chew my food.

2) You can use a normal tooth brush, but its soft bristled then he gives you a pick brush so you can get under the wire and clean between the brackets

3)Yes it does hurt REALLY bad and it doesnt go away for a week sometimes 2

Hope this helped:)
