Allergic to Orthodontist Appliances?!

Question: Allergic to Orthodontist Appliances?
I've heard of people who have had allergic reactions to orthodontic appliances such as fixed braces. I've had my Twin Block Retainer in for two days now, and I'm fine, but slightly alarmed and kind of paranoid now that I've read some articles about those people who have severe allergic reactions to the materials that orthodontic appliances are made of. Now I'm kind of scared? Any first symptoms, or things I should be aware of? I'm really worried, I have to wear my Twin Blocks for 3-6 months, and then I'll have fixed braces for 2 years.

Answers:

You need to stop worrying about things that may not happen and enjoy life while you are still young. Sounds like you have too much time on your hands.

Allergies to metal do not progress. If you were allergic, you would know already. It won't be worse a month from now. If you're good now, you'll be good 2 years from now.

Allergies to latex do progress. You can have a worse reaction in later exposure than earlier exposure, but there is no latex in your braces.
