Question: Scared to get fillings tomorrow. Does the novacaine hurt?

So due to genetics I have dimples, as the dentist calls them, behind my four front teeth. So tomorrow I have to get 4 fillings, two of the teeth don't have a cavity but he's filling the dimples as a precaution. But my question is, does the novacaine injection hurt? I've never had work done in my mouth aside from my cleaning every 6 months. I'm terrified and I'm getting scared just thinking about sitting there getting the novacaine :P How long does the pinch last? Is it a few seconds? Do you feel the needle going in? And where do they even inject the needle?

I hate having injections so understand how you feel. The injection may only hurt for a few seconds tops. My dentist uses a numbing cream first which reduces the pain. What I feel after that is a small prick and then it stings for 3-4 seconds . Nip the top of your forearm hard for 4 seconds and that is the worst it will hurt. You can feel the needle going in but it does not hurt. When the liquid is injected that is the part that stings for 3-4 seconds. When I have had dental work they normally inject the gum where the teeth meet the jaw area( at back of mouth). I normally just shut my eyes and think of something else and it is over faster than you know. Tell the dentist you are nervous and they will be understanding and helpful. But you really have nothing to worry about. The pain if any is very quick and over so fast.

I got 6 shot when i extract my 4 teeth for my braces.
they inject me with novacaine and it doesnt hurt much.
Just feel like some ant bite.

my ortho inject them and the needles stay for like 5-10 seconds. and it feels like there are 10 red ants biting me. Dont worry. it doesnt really hurt. i cant feel the needles going in, i just feel suddenly there is some ant bite. lol

No ,The dentist will give you a little wad like a cigarette filter to bite on for a few seconds,This will numb your gum before he gives you a needle which you dont feel.
