Why am i addicted to gum?!

Question: Why am i addicted to gum?
Even when I don't want to chew or just don't want gum I find my self with it. Its weird but I want to know why I'm addicted to gum and if its bad for me to be.

Answers:

Perhaps you're either dehydrated and need some water or you enjoy the taste of the gum. (Just fyi with dehydration, that once the throat is dry, it's supposed to indicate that one is already dehydrated.) I'm not sure if sugar-free is better for our health, but it may help to prevent cavities more than gum with sugar in its ingredient list. Please ask your dentist if chewing gum is okay and why you may be "addicted" to it.

It's just a habit. Do something for long enough and it becomes instinct. It's not bad for you, especially if you're using sugar free. In fact, it could be good for your teeth, tends to keep them clean and stops plaque from forming. Unless your dentist tells you otherwise, it's not a health problem.

If you want to break the habit, you'd have to go about it like any other habit. Get rid of all your gum and try to keep yourself occupied whenever you feel the urge. In a couple of weeks, you should be over the worst of it. Still, as habits go, this one is pretty harmless.
