Answers:

It can slightly affect your speech, but only temporarily (a few days). My bottom braces didn't hurt until they were tightened.

Practice speaking if you notice a significant problem speaking once you get the braces on. It can help you adjust quicker.

Also, if you do have any pain from the braces, make sure you talk to your orthodontist about relieving the pain (such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or sometimes they even recommended weak opioids, such as Vicodin, or codeine). The pain usually makes it harder to talk.

Best of luck with your braces. At times, they can be a living h***, but they are worth it. Also, once they remove your braces, make sure you wear your retainer if your orthodontist instructs you to, even if it is indefinitely. I made that mistake and I regret it to this day.

Having braces from 5th Grade (2000) until the end of 10th grade (2006). Stopped wearing my retainer ,after it broke, during the summer after 11th grade (2007)

When fitting braces doesn't hurt but when the wire is fitted your teeth will hurt for a few days but nothing a few painkillers wont sort out but just stick to soft foods like ice cream, yogurts etc

I found a usefull website with lots of information about braces http://www.braces.org.uk/

Hope it helps good luck :)

nope.. didnt hurt at all.. it only hurts when you get it tightened.. :0 you cant eat anything hard during those times! Its totally worth it... you'll be happy with the results.. and after a while you get used to the braces. Just make sure you floss and brush everyday!
