Do braces cause loose teeth and severe toothaches?!

Question: Do braces cause loose teeth and severe toothaches?
I just got braces this morning, and I think they made them a little too tight. My lower right tooth (#26) is really killing me. It's been sore for the past couple hours, and whenever I touch it with my tongue, finger, or whatever, I get a really severe toothache. I also think it's a little bit loose. Is this normal, or are the braces way too tight?

Answers:

HA, this is definitely normal. You have nothing to worry about. I hated that. Your teeth actually are a little loose from all the pressure but they won't fall out or anything lol. It hurts pretty bad for the first week or so. Not to be negative, but just know what to expect. They're no fun at first but you get used to them pretty fast. Soft foods will be the best way to go for a little while. It kills to eat anything hard. I just got mine tightened a couple of days ago and they hurt so I know the feeling pretty well!

Braces...going on 2 years this Summer.

It'll go away soon. I had braces for about a year and half. When you get them tightened, it hurts for a few hours, but then it stops. My teeth were a little loose at first because the braces were moving them. But it's perfectly normal :)

Same thing happened to me with my top tooth, I could have sworn it was loose but it wasn't and it hurt a lot but its normal, my othrodontist told me

I HAVE BRACES D:

its normal to hurt and feel loose, but if it hurts as severely as you say, you should talk to your orthodontist. best not to take chances!

i just got my braces off :D

They're not too tight. Sadly, it will feel pretty bad for about a week. Take pain reporters and eat soft food. They don't cause loose teeth but definitely sore ones!
