White spot on tooth. Possible cavity?!

Question: White spot on tooth. Possible cavity?
Alright, so I have been searching all over the internet for what this could be, and I think Ive come to the conclusion it is the beginning of a cavity. The tooth itself is a bit discolored, and there is a white spot on the tooth. And I don't mean just a spot, it looks like a small calcium buildup on the inside little "bowl" area of the tooth. I've tried to pick it out a little bit, but it doesn't move or come off at all. It's the tooth 2 teeth back on the lower left side from my canine tooth.

Is this the start of a cavity?

Answers:

It most certainly could be a decay in the tooth. Don't ever pick at something on your tooth. It could be simply a de-calcified (weaker ) enamel spot. These areas are easier to damage when you scratch at them. Sometimes they eventually soften and decay but sometimes they just remain as a white spot. Has this tooth had root canal treatment? This can cause the tooth to become darker. It is possible there is decay inside the tooth and that can make it appear darker as well. Seeing your dentist is the best bet. They will take an Xray and determine what may be going on.
