I'm 19, do I still get free dentristy from the NHS?!

Question: I'm 19, do I still get free dentristy from the NHS?
I'm 19 and in full time education at college atm and then will be going on to a full time course at university. If not, how much do I need to pay for things like simple checkups/fillings, etc.?

Answers:

Nope. The NHS subsidises dental (to a certain amount) for "everyone" but realistically there are very few dentists out there who are still practising for the NHS as many see it as more lucrative to practise privately only. How much it costs depends on where you go. If you are already registered with an NHS dentist then you should be able to get a check up for something like £25 and £40+ for any treatments. It's possible to find a private dentist who actually charges less than an NHS dentist and you won't have to go through all the hassle of seeing if they'll register you because most will take on anyone. If you aren't already registered ask around.

I dont know what the other answer is talking about. I live in the UK; Dentistry is free as long as your a student, you wil only start paying once you've graduated/flopped from Uni and are working full time.

P.s - check ups are always free - only the follow up treatments must be paid for!

yes they stll pay for u as long as u are in school

No you don't.. bummer aint it.

I think check ups are like 30 quid.. treatments obviously more :)
