How many times can a dentist give you an injection?!

Question: How many times can a dentist give you an injection?
Today I am due to have 2 temporary fillings replaced with new ones and then another new one put in. I am thinking that will total 3 injections. That can't be right can it?

Answers:

I had 2 deep filling done on same day 3 weeks ago. The dentist didn't give me 'seperate' injections, he more or less just loaded the needle with more anesthetic and numbed all around the 2 teeth involved. It felt like I got about 7 injections but it was just the 1 in different places.
A little tip, rinse your mouth out with Listerine just right before you go to dentist, It actually numbs up the gums and you don't feel the injections at all! My dentist told me this, and it worked, and i've gone on to get more work done since and i always you Listerine before I go.

Me!!

Don't know what the limit is but I had 5 one time recently. 4 on several occasions. It's not as bad as it used to be, at least now when I go for dental treatment, after the injections I feel absolutely nothing. There are certain points in the mouth that are easier to inject than others.

As crap as it is, just thank your lucky stars you don't live 200 years ago where the alternative would be either nothing, or whisky.

Incidently, I know a guy who pulls his own teeth. Unbelievable He said the pain of toothache gets to a certain point where pulling your own tooth out is the easier option. He used pliers, and a screwdriver to clean the socket out. Gives me the heebies just thinking about it.

They may have to but just close your eyes & relax & it won't hurt, I have such a fear of the dentist but you will be fine as after the first needle then you won't feel anything. But don't look at the needle as that freaks me out. I had wisdom teeth taking out years ago & had so many injections but got through it. Try to think of something nice & relax as really it is not painful but the thought of it more than anything that freaks us out. When I had to have my wisdom teeth taken out the gums had to be cut as they were not up yet as not enough room for those teeth in my mouth, but luckily the oral surgeon gave me a prescription for valium so I didn't feel a thing as so relaxed, Good luck

I had 3 injections when I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed. The doctor was afraid to use general anaesthesia because of the medication I was taking.

The dentist can give you as many as you think you need

I had around 5-6 injection for my 4 teeth extraction and it not that bad. :)

i had 3
