I really regret having teeth extraction :/?!

Question: I really regret having teeth extraction :/?
Why couldnt the orthodontist just do braces with all my teeth??? He said i dont need extractions with invisalign but i do with braces but i decided yo go with braces because it is cheaper and more sure to get teeth syraight because my teeth were really bad. and now just found outabout face sinking in and lookung like an old person. Can someone please tell me why orthos still do this?? Is there a way i could get my teeth back and widen my jaw? Im still 16 if that applies to anything

Answers:

You were treated that way because that is what traditional orthodontists are taught to do to gain room to uncrowd teeth. Unfortunately it is an old and out of date technique but yet many orthodontic schools still teach that type of treatment. Traditional orthodontists are not taught about the importance of facial beauty, only about how straight teeth are supposed to be whereas more modern and up to date orthodontics like functional orthodontics places great emphasis on what the patient's face will look like after treatment and to ensure that the TMJ is not adversely affected. Almost all traditional orthodontists do not know a thing about TMJ either and they do not realize that pulling teeth and retracting the front teeth back to close up spaces causes TMJ problems in most people, especially in females. A better way to gain room for crowded teeth is to expand the jaws rather than to have perfectly good teeth extracted and this is another area that most traditional orthodontists disagree about. The main problem is too many traditional orthodontists are married to an old and outdated technique and will not take the time to go out and learn newer and more modern orthodontics. The commonly used excuse "that's the way I was taught" just does not cut it anymore especially since bicuspid extractions have been shown to cause TMJ problems. To check if you may have TMJ, insert your pinkies into both ear canals with the soft part facing forward and open wide and close. If you feel or hear clicking than you have a TMJ disorder.

Yes, it is possible to reverse the bad effects traditional orthodontic treatment. Ideally you should seek out an orthodontist who knows and uses functional orthodontic techniques. Your age is actually an advantage; being as young as you are, treatment will be faster and more stable than if you are older. How on earth do you think you can get your teeth back? Your face won't look like that till you're old and anyway your teeth will take up the spare room after your brace has worked.
