front tooth gap closed?!

Question: Front tooth gap closed?
I am an adult , well over 25, when I was a teen I had a gap in between my front teeth, a small one, I never had it fixed by a dentist. Now the gap has closed, do the teeth move and close the gap as u get older? I mean do the teeth grow closer?

Answers:

There is no evidence in any dental journal that I'm aware of that has determined that third molar eruption has enough force to move anterior teeth. Also, extracting third molars hasn't shown to prevent other teeth from shifting. There are a number of factors that can cause teeth to shift such as tongue thrust and lip/masticatory muscle pressure. If the gap was present in your early teens, it may have closed just from continued jaw growth and eruption of teeth into a more stable position.

I am a dentist.

If you still have your wisdom teeth, they could be pushing your teeth together. If you have your wisdom teeth removed, it's possible that you will have a gap again. I had a gap and fixed it with veneers and then had my wisdom teeth removed. I don't have a gap in my front teeth, but there is a small one between the tooth next to my left front tooth and front tooth now.

Yes, your.molars.you get in the.back push the gap closed.
