Question: Will getting my braces off change how I play my instruments?

I play the flute and alto saxophone. People say that sometimes when you get braces on/off you can't play for a while. Is this common? Will it happen to me? How long until I get used to having them off and playing?

I also play the flute! i started in the 5th grade got my braces on in the 6th grade. and got them off right before the 9th grade. I promise you you will not notice a difference except it'll be a lot easier and your bottom lip wont be cut up all the time any more. It may feel funny at first but you'll get use to it fast. I am now an orthodontic assistant and none of my patients have had that problem. I still play the flute no problems! Dont worry!

first chair flutist 2 1/2 years in braces!

you'll sound fuzzy for awhile but you'll get used to it. the first chair player in my band has braces and she has a beautiful tone. for saxophone you'll probably have to get braces guard
